LPV models: Identification for gain scheduling control

2001

In this paper the use of discrete-time Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) models for the gain scheduling control and identification methods for non-linear or time-varying system is considered. We report an overview on the existing literature on LPV systems for gain scheduling control and identification. Moreover, assuming that inputs, outputs and the scheduling parameters are measured, and a form of the functional dependence of the coefficients on the parameters is known, we show how the identification problem can be reduced to a linear regression so that a Least Mean Square and Recursive Least Square identification algorithm can be reformulated. Our methodology is applied for the identificatio…

Linear parameter‐varying modelling and control of an offshore wind turbine with constrained information

2014

This study deals with linear parameter-varying modelling and output-feedback H ∞ control design for an offshore wind turbine. The controller is designed with consideration that not all the information in the feedback loop will be used. This constraint is incorporated into the design procedure. Constrained information means that a special zero-non-zero pattern is forced upon the gain matrix. The constrained controller is obtained based on parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions and formulated in terms of linear-matrix inequalities. Since the functions are dependent on the wind speed and accurate wind speed measurements are rarely available in practice, an extended Kalman filter is used to est…

A PV plant simulator for testing MPPT techniques

2013

This paper introduces a versatile and reliable photovoltaic systems simulator. It includes the main components of a photovoltaic plant: a PV string and a PWM controlled boost chooper. The key feature of this simulator is the ability to consider different and non-uniform irradiation and temperature conditions (partial shading and partial heating of the strings). All the different I-V and P-V or P-I characteristics can then be determined in such non-uniform irradiation and temperature conditions, with the aim to try different MPPT algorithms. The simulator also allows to verify an enhanced version of the Incremental Conductance algorithm (IncCond) where, in order to reach the real absolute ma…
